Viewing Room: Theory of Flamboyant and Fantastic
In a playful and light manner, both artists introduce the viewer to a strange and often dark, or in the least, mysterious narrative. Both artists trust the viewer and his opinion, by giving him the power to choose the windup.
Dimitra Bouritsa's gaze allows the viewer to participate in her creations and to configure his own tales. Imagination is a power, she claims. Animals and hybrids take over, while humans have a less important role in her world. She interprets real life and elements she finds intriguing and sort of surreal in their extravagance and flamboyance.
Konstantinos Patsios on the other hand, claims that his art may seem naive at first, because of the quirky means and techniques used, but if you look closely you will find radical ways of expression. One can focus on a little fragment of Patsios work and interpret it in a whole different dimension.
Both artists trust the viewer and his opinion, by giving him the power to choose the windup, according to his own connotations and personal experiences. Patsios and Bouritsa utterly invite the viewer to consider how deep the well of their imagination goes. And of course, to dive in.
